The mission of the Battle Creek Downtown Partnership is to establish downtown Battle Creek as a vibrant, livable, urban center.  While the downtown environ constantly changes, our vision and core values help us focus on creating a sustainable future.

Our Vision

Create a popular destination with a great mix of boutiques, restaurants, arts, and attractions;

Offer a welcoming, safe, and vital downtown where people are open-minded and friendly and where the community nurtures its resources;

Maintain a prosperous, beautiful, and unique downtown that welcomes and attracts a diversity of people -- in terms of age, ethnicity, and religion; a downtown that is exciting, different, and visually appealing;

Committed to health and fitness because of its unique history in Battle Creek; and

2011-12 DOWNTOWN PARTNERSHIP WORK PLAN
Goal: Establish Downtown Battle Creek as a vibrant, livable urban center

Objective: Promote a vibrant, compatible, well connected mix of uses to increase the density and activity of the downtown area as well as increase jobs, residence and the tax base
Strategy: Recruit three businesses/venues that respond to the downtown market needs
Strategy: Continually look for areas to diversify and grow the Battle Creek Downtown Development Authority tax base
Strategy: Continue building upon public and private partnerships that supports downtown revitalization

Objective: Retain 100% of businesses within the Central Business District
Strategy: Create and implement a retention program for downtown businesses
Strategy: Coordinate with city and other service providers
Strategy: Coordinate state level participation where appropriate

Objective: Residential Development: Reduce upper level vacancies
Strategy: Advocate the development of upper story residential units
Strategy: Seek developers for BCU-owned properties

Objective: Enhance appearance of downtown buildings, streetscape, cleanliness, and landscaping
Strategy: Work with city code enforcement and public infrastructure maintenance teams
Strategy: Provide communication through various outlets to all parties impacted by streetscape construction to minimize disruption

Objective: Promote a new vision of downtown through communication, events programming and campaigns designed to engage downtown target market
Strategy: Introduce one (1) new event that meets the downtown market need
Strategy: Create benchmarking tool to measure effectiveness of programming
Strategy: Develop new marketing campaign for new vision of downtown
